Session 8: A Terrorbird Lost, a Terrorbird Gained
Creature deals piercing damage, has a charge attack and sonic attack.Creature is lured by shiny things, mostly metal.
Avian.
A spear was the only thing that dealt damage to it.
Fire repelled it.
It avoided berries.
While Rutana and the Sprite investigate the concept of ear plugs, Sartorii crafts some flammable arrows for herself.
Clarence picked up one of the spears from the ground.
Tutorial:
Creatures have the basic senses. At range, they can be lured by sight, sound, or smell.
Sartorii's plan:
Bang pots and pans together to lure the bird!
The terrorbird comes walking out of the forest. It spots Clarence, but more improtantly it spots the pile of shinies.
It drags a rope threaded with breastplates and shiny things behind it. It's a mating display!
Sprites starts with a Magic Missile, which does fuckall.
Sartorii lets loose with three flaming arrows, hitting only with one. The bird's oil coating does not react well to the flames.
Clarence rushes up to one side of the bird and lifts his shield. Rutana follows up behind him.
Terrorbird's turn! It leans back and inflates an engorged sac beneath its beak, then lets out a horrid shriek.
The ear plugs pulled through!
The terrorbird kicks at Clarence's shiny, shiny shield.
In one kick it deals 13 damageand knocks Clarence prone.
Sprite's turn, back to ol' reliable, time for fire!
This deals 32 damage, andt he bird is now on fire.
Sartorii leaps from her tree and flanks the bird, swinging at it with her rapier!
She gets one good hit in, and then the bird turns its attention on her.
Clarent stands. From hell's heart, he stabs at the cloaca!
But the bird turns and takes a spear straight through its neck and out the back of its head.
Rutana casts Survival Roll to collect meat and materials from the bird!
She salvages basically all the useable meat for the party, and also a cool bone and talon for the Sprite.
With a cart full of uncooked, uncured chicken, the party elects to return home to store the meat.
On the ride back Rutana tries to bandage Clarence's wound, but doesn't manage to help.
The party drives their cart south along a pretty broad road. Sartorii from her perch atop the cart spots three normal-sized Terrorbirds charging toward the cart.
One of the birds runs up and pecks at the Sprite, leaving him with a nasty gash.
Sartorii fires a couple arrows at the nearest bird, but fumblers her bow and needs to take a little longer reloading.
Bird 2 runs up alongside the cart and starts pecking at the door. In two bites it rips the door off its hinges!
The Sprite zaps the two nearest Terrorbirds with Electric Arc, then flaps up on top of the cart.
Clarence then claws at the toasty bird outside the doo, then stuffs his shield in the door. New door!
The straggler bird runs up and again nips at the Sprite, who's basically in tatters by now.
Sartorii expertly dodges one bird beak then leaps onto the bird that nipped at her to grapple it.
She is now firmly planted on the bird.
Rutana clambers out of the drivers seat and knocks the doorbird unconcious.
The Sprite scooches further back on the roof and lobs more fire at the straggler bird.
Clarence claws at straggler bird, who then flees.
The remaining bird starts to flee with Sartorii still on its back. It makes it a whole 50 feet before giving in.
The party continues home, now with Sartorii riding her new bird.
Clarence lays on hands himself and the Sprite back up to full.
Guard Captain Astrafel is still run rugged.
He's busy, and it's our fault, but he would take a full inbox over Greenwall turning into Asmodeus's greenhouse.
The party gives the report; an alpha Terrorbird during mating season stumbled upon this camp, lured by the clattering of their armor.
Astrafel takes a pile of papers from his inbox and dumps them in the trash, then takes the initial work order and stamps it with COMPLETE.
He reaches into a locked drawer and pulls out a leather bag out, tosses it on his desk.
Rutana asks if the amount they're getting paid is public.
"Besh, is it?"
Yes, the amount is public. Even if it wasn't, Besh would be able to find out.
Astrafel asks the party to close the door.
The problem with Besh is that he's been around for quite some time. People who've been around for longer than Astrafel has have fallen into his pockets. The party would need evidence implicating Besh and everyone else, a ledger proving he's paying the guards off.
Lore! Astrafel's father was a clergymen and his mother was an angel!
(His mother's an angel, Astrafel is definitely the guy to go to for the Celestial writing on the map.)
He pays the party 40g for taking out the giant Terrorbird.
10g for everyone!
Sartorii asks around for someone to build a fence for her bird. She comes across a plump, green-eyed human man, deep in his cups. He says he'll get his family to do it, if the party does a favor for him.
He'll get his boys to do it if the party helps with something on his farm, no questions asked.
Gregor Cartwright, of the nearby Cartwright wheat farm.
Sartorii Perceives that this Gregor is most certainly not alright.
The Sprite knowsabout Cartwright farm, owned by one singular Gregor Cartwright. He doesn't have any family.
Sartorii questions him further.
Everyone in the room watches.
Sartorii tells him to come talk to her later. He says his cousins will take care of the fence.

- If whistled, the statuette transforms into a guard dog for 6 hours or until told to return.

This simple onyx statue transforms into a guard dog
(Pathfinder Bestiary 102). The dog has a +4 circumstance
bonus to Survival checks to Track, and it has darkvision.
When the dog senses a hidden creature with its scent, that
creature is instead observed and concealed. The onyx dog
can be activated once per week and remains in its form for
up to 6 hours.

- The slot can hold an aeon stone, something typically used by wizards. Once activated, it will orbit around your head and give a bonus to stats based on the color of the stone. The stone can instead be slotted into the compass for safekeeping.
- Goes into the Sprite's pocket but Rutana wants shared custody.
- Bottle of green, viscous liquid with a stopper that looks like a fang.
- The cork has a glass top in the shape of a canine tooth.

- When drunk, gives a bonus to athletics checks and unarmed attack rolls, and the drinker grows clows.
- For 1 minute, Clarence's claws will do 2d6, +2 to attack, jaws to 1d8.
- For 1 minute, anyone else's claws will do 1d6, +2 to attack, jaws to 1d8.

- A bundle of 5 arrows with an opaque glass ball in place of a head, a shaft of azure blue, and downy fletching.

- On activation, the arrow deals no damage. A living creature hit by it comes under the effects of the [[Sleep]] spell at DC 17.
